TPLC provides undergraduate and graduate students with work experience internships throughout the year. We welcome students who are seeking an opportunity to develop skills through mentorship and experiential practice and who are prepared to contribute to TPLC’s operations, goals, and objectives as the largest property owner in the Port Lands. These internships will be of particular interest to those in Planning, Environmental Studies, Marketing, Accounting, and other related disciplines. Work terms are generally for 8-week periods. The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Environmental Services, the new Environmental Summer Student, will communicate with tenants, service contractors, construction managers and manage remedial activities.  The Environmental Management team supports CreateTO business streams in oversight of environmental, geotechnical, landscape implementation, and natural heritage projects and provisions of related advice.

The Summer Student will have exposure to various key programs such as:  Contaminated Sites Management and Development; Environmental Due Diligence & Legal Support; Pipeline Due Diligence Work and Special Projects.

 

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in 4th year co-op undergraduate program or enrolled in Master’s program in engineering, geosciences, environmental sciences, impact assessment, contaminated sites redevelopment, or related environmental science disciplines
  • Knowledge of environmental investigation, contaminated sites remediation, procedures in risk assessment, and environmentally significant areas analysis
  • Knowledge of environmental assessment and class environmental assessment process
  • Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems (eg. ISO 14001)
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, project management applications and geospatial solutions
  • General knowledge of real estate industry and/or commercial real estate experience considered an asset
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative, and thrive in a small company environment as well as a commitment to supporting a team-focused environment

Job Posting – Property Accountant

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Budget Planning & Forecasts and the Senior Property Accountant at CreateTO, the Property Accountant position is responsible for full-cycle accounts receivable (AR), oversee accounts payable, compiling month-end and year-end journal entries and schedules, prepare necessary property tax and common area costs reconciliations, perform analytical review requested by management and variance analysis against budget.

 

Qualifications

  • University education with a degree in business or accounting and working toward an accounting designation
  • 3 to 5 years of accounting experience with experience in property management accounting is a must
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently and as a team
  • Self-starter and able to prioritize work to meet reporting deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to maintain good working relationship with colleagues and tenants
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, in particular Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Experience in Yardi and MRI an asset
