The future of the 4 East Toronto Works Yard has been discussed and debated among city officials (as well as tenants in the Port Lands) for a number of years. The City of Toronto is undertaking a real estate consolidation project, and began by reaching out to the private sector for advice on how best to move ahead.
Recently, the City of Toronto Real Estate Services Division (which oversees approximately $12 billion in assets from over 5,600 properties) retained the services of Toronto-based firm Rebanks Pepper Littlewood Architects to review the consolidation. The company, which has been around since the 1960s, describes itself as “a small firm with big capabilities.” It has specialized in building police, emergency service, and related buildings since the early 1980s. As things appear to be moving ahead positively, we will keep you up to date on developments as the project moves forward.
